On discovering that some of his classmates were feeling left out at lunchtime, Christian Bucks of York Pennsylvania came up with the genius idea of a “buddy bench”.
A “buddy bench” is a seating area where students who are feeling lonely or left out can sit in the hope of meeting new friends.
The bench is generally painted in bright inviting colours to encourage the children to join in.
Christian, who is in second-grade at school, first spotted a buddy bench at a school in Germany, according to the York Daily Record.

He then told Matthew Miller, the principal of his school Roundtown Elementary School and he helped Christian to put the idea in motion, letting Christian pick the style and colour of the bench.
The little boy told the Record that he hopes the bench will help “grow our dream circle of friends.”
