A 50ft-long sculpture of a vagina has been launched in Tel Aviv to mark International Women’s Day.
The monument, made from roughly 10,000 call cards for prostitiution services, was placed on Rothschild Boulevard in the city early this morning.
According to indy100, artists Sasha Kurbatov and Vanane Borian took nearly a year to assemble the piece – which also marks the issue of human trafficking.

‘We opened in celebration of international women’s day!
Hundreds of hours of gathering in the streets of the city,
Dozens of days of jigsaw puzzle,
Fifty Feet long,
Three meters tall,
Thousands of tickets.
Tens of thousands of Women.
In a circle.
One day, and a woman.’
While prostitution is legal in Israel, the United Nations named the country as one of the main destinations in the world for trafficked women. The US State Department conceded the UN’s ranking in a 2015 report on human trafficking, including a list of recommendations which included introducing “stricter sentences on convicted trafficking offenders”.
