8 things you can do every day to make your life a little easier

 Life is complicated.

Between work, friends and relationship sometimes it can all just seem…well, a bit messy.

But there are a few little things that you can do to make things easier for yourself every day and in the long run too.

Here are the 8 things you can do today to make life that little bit easier (and slightly less hectic)

And the best part is that they are all super easy.

Get those zzzzzs

Okay, we know this is easier said than done but getting a good night’s sleep can do wonders for your mood. There’s nothing worse than feeling shattered on your way into work, so get a step ahead and turn in early every night. Your body will thank you for it and you will be more alert during the day.

Do a little exercise

We all know the positive effects exercise can have on our mood but sometimes it can be hard getting up for the gym, especially at this time of year. Find a way to make exercise work with your routine. Have you ever thought about running home? It might actually be quicker than the bus. Or maybe try to get involved in a local boot camp? It will help keep your mindset positive and keep you motivated throughout the year.

Save yourself some money

Money can be a massive stress. One way to make sure that it doesn’t negatively affect your day-to-day is to budget properly and keep on top of things. There are lots of great saving opportunities out there.

For instance, you could save €452 on electricity or €629 on dual electricity and gas over two years if you switch to Electric Ireland so it definitely pays to shop around.

Leave work at work

When you walk out the door every day leave work behind you. Once you’ve done your 8 or 9-hour shift there is nothing more you can do until tomorrow. Don’t spend your evenings obsessing over a deal or worrying about a big case. And for the love of God don’t ever get your work emails delivered to your phone that’s a recipe for disaster. Having a good work-life balance is key for an easy-going life.

Fight the hanger

Nothing can make us more grumpy than hunger. Ever sent a ratty email at work just before lunch when you were starving? Yup! Keep hunger (and anger) at bay and make sure you eat breakfast lunch and dinner every day. Skipping meals to get more work done won’t do you any good in the long run.

Do something for nothing

Doing charity work is scientifically proven to make you happier. It doesn’t have to be a big thing either it could be something small like helping an elderly neighbour or donating money to a homeless shelter. That instant good feeling you get when you do something for others can boost your own mood and make life that little bit more cheery so try to volunteer at least once every few months.

Be grateful

If you appreciate the little things in life, life becomes a lot easier. We can all be guilty of whining every now and then but in reality, we have it pretty sweet compared to others around the world. If you ever find yourself feeling crappy, count your blessings and it might help.

Work with your hands

Apparently, people who work with their hands are more positive than those who don’t. So get busy cooking, creating, and making things. It’s a great way to switch off, plus you’ll get great satisfaction if something turns out good.

Make plans

Having something to look forward to can really help you stay positive. Spend time planning trips for the new year to get yourself excited for the months ahead. Put aside time to see old friends as talking to people who care about you is also a great way to get rid of stress.
