Jiroemon Kimura, the world’s oldest person, has passed away from natural causes aged 116.
According to Kyodo News the former postman, who celebrated his birthday back in April, died in hospital early Wednesday morning.

Kimura was the first man in history to live to the age of 116.
Kimura was recognised by Guinness World Records as the oldest living person and also took the title of the oldest man ever to have lived.
He had seven children, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
He celebrated his birthday a few months ago.
Previously speaking about the secret to a long life, Kimura said his motto was: “to eat light and live long.”
