Our favourite stories from the week that was...

Her

Having a lazy Sunday? Kick back, pour yourself a cuppa and enjoy Team Her.ie’s favourite reads of the week.

Though it’s a tough task, given how many fantastic stories we’ve come across in the past seven days, each of us here at Her.ie have chosen one of our favourite picks from the week, gathered together in one handy collection. Enjoy! ___________________________________

Cathy’s Choice: A Great Impression

Cathy says: I’ve discovered a new love for Michael Fassbender of late so this video cracked me up. There’s nearly too many famous faces in one room to handle but never mind that. It’s brilliant because they are genuinely having the craic and you can’t help laughing as they mimic each other. Definitely worth a watch!

Sue’s Choice: Thanks Dad…

Sue says: My favourite story of the week was the piece that all of the team wrote about their Dads. During the week, I collected a few stories from the team about special moments with their fathers in the lead up to Father’s Day and it honestly made me a little emotional. There are some really lovely stories in here about the heroes in our lives.

Úna’s Choice: A Super Senor Prank

Úna says: I absolutely love what these students did to surprise their principal!  As part of a “prank” in Santa Barbara High School, senior students took the time out to hire a mariachi band to follow their principal around for an entire hour as he tried to conduct business as usual. Definitely sounds like something I’d do!

Grace’s Choice:

Grace says: This week I had the pleasure of meeting the incredibly talented  Marc O’ Reilly – with a surname like that he is already onto a winner. The singer-songwriter has just released his second piece of alternative roots music with his 11 track album titled ‘Human Herdings’. Any music lover will admit that it is a rare occasion to pick up a record these days and listen to it in its entirety without skipping at least one song, however that was the case with Marc’s album. With his husky vocals and razor sharp guitar style, down-to-earth attitude and genuine sound, if there’s one album you invest in this year, make it this.

Michelle’s Choice: What’s Your Favourite Colour?

Michelle says: Some festive visitors made my week when they dropped in on Friday. Elf is a Christmas classic that I would happily watch any day of the year, but the news that Elf the Musical is on the way to Dublin is pretty much the most exciting thing ever and I’m ready for it to be winter already. Sorry.

Liz’ Choice: A Great Bunch of Lads

Liz says: I loved the story of the GAA lads from Naomh Columba stopping off to give a helping hand to the farmer turning turf single-handedly in Galway over the weekend. Only in Ireland would you get that kind of gesture, and what a team of heroes to get down into the bog and show some Irish hospitality. Lads, fair dues. Your mammies would be proud.

Marie’s Choice: Singer John Grant To Present Talk Show On TXFM Ahead Of Body And Soul Gig

Marie says: I headed to John Grant’s show in the Olympia back in March and found that his banter and storytelling between songs was almost as enjoyable as the music itself, which was pretty epic. So, I was delighted to hear that he will be hosting a talk show on TXFM ahead of his Body And Soul performance later this month. Would definitely recommend tuning in!
