From crisps to a cuppa, these are 12 things that all Irish people know to be true... 1. A cup of tea solves everything. You're sad, you make a cuppa. You're confused, you make a cuppa. You break the kettle, you boil some water in a saucepan and make a cuppa. It's just a natural reaction. 2. Tayto crisps are the best (and you need to put them into sandwiches). Bag of cheese and onion. Four slices of bread. Some butter. Heaven. 3. Four seasons in one day is not impossible. In fact, it's quite normal... although, that doesn't mean we'll be prepared for it. Oh no, we'll be out in the pouring rain with sandals and a mini skirt on. 4. It’s never just one drink. What's the point? 5. The government are to blame for everything. Again, what's the point? 6. The Late Late Show is the best thing on TV. No matter what you say about it, you will sit down every Friday night and watch it. Missing it would be like missing your gran's birthday. 7. There’s a Father Ted quote for every scenario. Whatever happens in life, Irish people always know that there is a quote for every single occurence. Say for instance you want to threaten someone to a fight. Simply use: "If you ever say that to me again, I'll put your head through the wall." Done. 8. Liveline is a way of life When you think about it, it's unbelievable what Joe Duffy is able to sort out here. It's even used as a threat. "This is ridiculous, I'm going to call Liveline. I'm going to TALK TO JOE!" 9. St Patrick’s Day IS a real holiday. They have cards for it now. That kind of makes it official. 10. You cannot beat an Irish mammy. Whether she's berating you for not looking after yourself or making you your favourite dinner, Irish mammies are one of a kind. (Irish daddies are pretty special too.) 11. You MUST support your GAA team if they get to the final. It doesn't matter if you have never watched a match in your life, you will now. 12. You can get your entire wardrobe in Penneys.
