Fair play to this kid.
A lot of people in Ireland can’t spell Taoiseach properly but somehow this 11-year-old American kid was able to, and under the pressure of The National Spelling Bee championship too.
He took to the stage of the championships and absolutely nailed the word, leaving everyone impressed and stunned at the same time.
While the various Taoiseach’s have made a few headlines throughout the years across the pond, you wouldn’t think that an 11-year-old would even know the Irish word, let alone be able to spell it.
Our friends over in JOE spotted this gem.
#speller232 Nihar Janga spelled the word ‘taoiseach’ (prime minister used in Ireland) correctly #spellingbee

“Is this an Irish prime minister?” Nihar Janga asks before spelling “taoiseach.” 11-year-old, dude. #NationalSpellingBee

This 11-year-old kid just rattled off the definitions of “taoiseach” “biniou” and “melilot” like it was fucking NOTHING #NationalSpellingBee

My boy, Nihar, doesn’t ask etymology, etc. He goes, “Taoiseach. Is this an Irish prime minister?” Talk about swagger for days. #spellingbee
