10 Things… That Make for a Classic College Meal

The college year is practically upon us and you know what that means; you’re going to have to feed yourself.

From pasta to pizza to the delicious slice of toast at 3am, here are 10 things that students are guaranteed to gorge themselves on during their college years.

 

1) The Classic Pot Noodle

Sure it tastes like you are eating cardboard, but the fact that you just need some hot water means that this quick meal is pretty impossible to mess up.

 

2) Toast

Cheap and tasty, you can’t beat toast after a night out on the town. Smeared with a bit of butter you’re sorted for the night.

 

3) Homemade Dinners from Mammy

Heading home for the weekend? Chances are you’re going to bring some homemade goodness back to college with you! And these delicious boxes of lasagne and shepherd’s pie mean that you definitely won’t starve (for a few days anyway).

 

4) Chicken Fillet Rolls

It’s usually a battle between choosing the roll or wedges. The chicken fillet roll, the majority time, will make it into your tummy. How can you resist its deliciousness? (Let’s just pretend it’s healthy)

5) Pasta

Pasta pretty much features on every college student’s shelf. Like the pot noodle, all you need is a bit of hot water and you are on your way. And, if you cook it right you get to use fancy words like “al dente.” Pasta expert alert.

 

6) Pizzas

Another meal that required minimum expertise, the pizza is a classic. Chances are though that this will happen at least once:

 

7) Cup a Soups

Perfect for the quick meal, the cup a soup is handy for when there’s no decent food in the house. You might as well just invest in the company considering how many are likely to be consumed at college year…

 

 

8) Takeaways

When all else fails, takeaway is your best friend. Especially after you manage to accidentally burn everything in the oven…

 

 

9) The Free Stuff that Arrived on Campus

Though not sufficient enough to make a meal, you’ll suddenly have an abundance of Nutri-grain bars, packets of Taytos and cans of Redbull…  At least they combat the munchies for a while.

 

10) Liquid Lunch

Sure wine clearly contains grapes and cocktails have a grand mixture of fruit. That’s food isn’t it?
