It’s been four weeks since Her.ie girls Amy and Patricia started their weight loss journey with Weight Watchers. Already they’ve lost a combined weight of 6.5lbs and they’re hoping that the minuses will keep appearing on the scales at every weigh-in!
In this entry they’re talking about eating out, going a bit off the rails over the weekend and rediscovering their initial motivation for the ProPoints plan.

After last week’s loss I was really motivated to do even better. Unlike last weekend, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday didn’t pose many challenges for me as I stayed in. However, the Late Late Toy Show is always an evening that requires a mountain of sweeties but I stuck with my Curly Wurly and was just as satisfied.
Earlier in the week, I went for dinner with my friends and like my leader Mary suggested I had a good scope of the menu online before I went so I could choose the most Weight Watchers friendly dish. Although my friends ordered the burger, I knew that it would be high in ProPoints and I really wasn’t tempted. I had already picked a tagine with couscous, which was equally as delicious. I also went without a huge chocolate brownie and instead tucked into a Muller cheesecake yoghurt when I got home. Even though I was minding my Propoints I had a great time catching up with my friends, which is what it is really all about.
On Saturday evening I really fancied a beer and I didn’t deprive myself, however I made one bottle last way longer by making my drinks shandies with a diet lemon and lime mixer. It made one drink into two and it satisfied me.
As I told you last week, I invested in this month’s Weight Watcher’s magazine. It is jam-packed with recipes but one that really caught my attention was the WW Christmas cake. Every year, I make a Christmas cake but this year I might just make the Weight Watchers friendly version and see if anyone notices.
The magazine, as always, has many inspiring stories which really encourage you to get off your bum and pound the pavement!
In college, I used to love going for a swim, but since moving to Dublin I haven’t bothered. However, this week I am making it my mission to find a pool and go at least one evening. Does anyone want to join me?
I hope Wednesday’s weigh-in yields a minus on the scales!

I have a confession to make: I’ve been a bad little Weight Watcher over the past few days. Don’t look at me like that! For what it’s worth, I’m firmly back on track now, but I’ll admit it, my willpower did slide slightly over the weekend.
My parents were up visiting, so naturally enough this involved eating out a fair bit. In my defence, I did try and go for the healthy option every single time. For example, while my parents tucked into large portions of spaghetti at Jamie’s Italian Restaurant in Dundrum yesterday, I was happy enough with my small portion.
And likewise, while they tucked into burgers, I was actually satisfied with a bowl of tomato soup and some brown bread (I never thought I’d see the day that this would happen, but there you go).
The best thing about the Weight Watchers ProPoints plan is that it accounts for days like this when real life gets in the way and you want to enjoy yourself. I accounted for the damage done by using my weekly ProPoints and making sure I had a ProPoints friendly breakfast or lunch. I’m hoping that by doing this, I managed to somehow cancel out the damage I did by eating out so much.
All of that being said, I know that slipping a little bit is only natural (especially when it comes to weight loss) and I’ve decided to stick to some advice given by our class leader Mary last week: “If you have a bad few days, just aim to stay the same. That way you won’t be disappointed.”
I’m not expecting miracles on the scales this week but I will be more than happy if I manage to stay the same and not regain any of the weight that I have lost.
