Her.ie girls Amy and Patricia had their first Weight Watchers Weigh-In on Wednesday. How did they get on? They reveal all here...

It’s week two of Amy and Patricia’s journey with Weight Watchers and the girls are starting to find their stride. In this entry they’re talking about motivation, nerve-wracking weigh-ins and staying on track.

So far they’ve been keeping us up to speed with their progress with their diary of the programme. Over the next few weeks they’ll be sharing everything about their journey – how much weight they’re losing, tips they’ve picked up and the importance of eating healthy and filling foods.

If you missed the girls’ previous entries, you can check them out here and here. Or if you want to see how it all began, get up to speed by clicking here. In this entry, it’s all about weighing in…

I was only down half a pound at this week’s weigh-in, which was a bit disappointing considering I thought I had had a good week. My daily ProPoints allowance is 35, but I haven’t been using them all each day. However, my leader Mary said that there is a reason why each of us is given a daily allowance, which is, of course, to use them. Starving yourself and depriving yourself of ProPoints will always show a disappointing number on the scales

This week I am determined to track everything I eat and have even taken the class journal to look back on other members’ good and bad weeks and try and make this one a better week for myself.

I think having the calculator is really important for me, especially when I am shopping in the supermarket. It allows me to calculate my ProPoints on the spot and frankly it has eliminated my guesswork, which was really not doing me any good.

Although I was disappointed by the number at least I am moving in the right direction which is downwards.

Hopefully I will really get into the swing of things this week and will be happier with the number on the scales come Wednesday.

It’s week two of my Weight Watchers journey and not only have I finally gotten the hang of the whole ProPoints system, I’m also 4lbs lighter. Result!

So how did I shift those 4lbs? Well I’ll be completely honest and tell you that I just stuck to the ProPoints plan every single day. Simple as. I’ll admit that I wasn’t hitting the gym hard or anything, I was just thinking before I shovelled a bit of food into my mouth.

It took some getting used to (I did find it hard for the first day or two) but now I feel confident and trust myself when it comes to making smart choices around food.

That isn’t to say that my life has become a boring regime of fruit and vegetables though. Far from it! The best thing about Weight Watchers is that it fits into your life and it works around you.

Anyone who knows me in real life knows that I am a certified chocoholic. Does being on the ProPoints programme mean I have to deprive myself? Hell no! I can still have a bit of chocolate as long as it falls within my ProPoints. It’s perfect.

I’m hoping that my losing streak will continue into next week, although this weekend the temptation to cheat will be there. I’m planning on hitting the town for the first time in ages and I know that it’ll be hard to resist having one-too-many drinks with friends. I’ve budgeted my ProPoints for the night already, but I’m just praying I can resist ducking into the chipper on my way home.

This is going to be a test on my part, but I’m after planning for it as best I can and I’m optimistic about next week’s weigh-in (well, at the moment, come back to me on Monday…)
