So far the girls have let you in on their weight loss journey and as the weeks go on they will be sharing their tips and tricks as they try to make this lifestyle change.

I was a bit afraid to step on the scales after last week’s ½ pound weight loss but after a week of tracking I lost 1½ pounds this week and I was proud of myself. It does not seem like a lot but I finally feel like I’m moving in the right direction. As you know, last weekend was a difficult one for me as I had a weekend visitor and was faced with many temptations including my favourite red wine!

Tonight, I am going to go for dinner with my friends to treat myself and if needs be I will use some of my 49 extra Propoints. That’s what they’re there for right? I’ve really tried to up my activity this week, which I feel is the main area that lets me down. On Monday and Tuesday I walked home from work instead of taking the bus. There is really no excuse when the sky is clear. I didn’t bring any change with me to work so I wouldn’t be tempted to hop on the bus out of laziness!

This week’s class involved more talk about Christmas which I am dreading a little but Mary gave us some helpful tips especially where alcohol is concerned. As it’s Christmas time, it’s hard to avoid that drink with an old friend or the booze at a work party but it’s really about smart choices and control.

This week’s small success has motivated me for the week and I have really thrown myself into planning my meals and making smarter choices.

The office is a scary place too! Yesterday, somebody places a bag of Lindt chocolates on the table next to me. I took one but swiftly moved them to the other side of the office to avoid the temptation.

This week, I have also invested in the Weight Watchers magazine, which has amazing advice and recipes for Christmas time. Hopefully next week will be another loss and I’ll begin to feel the benefits!

Not a massive loss this week and while I am a little disappointed, I’m still happy to see a minus on the scales. After all, it’s better to be a half pound down than a half pound up.

Despite this I’m still absolutely thrilled with my overall loss (4.5lbs in the space of two weeks!). One thing I’ve taken on board this week is that I really need to get my backside in gear when it comes to activity.

I don’t know about you, but I am guilty of coming home from work and parking myself on the sofa for the rest of the evening with a mug of tea and a box set. Well… no more I say! Over the next few days I’m going to make such an effort to move a bit more and to try and clock up some activity ProPoints (these are extra ProPoints that you gain through exercise).

Aside from that, the ProPoints plan is going really well. To be honest I’m actually surprised at how easy it has been to stick to. I’ve found myself cooking more, eating more fruits and vegetables and, in general, just educating myself when it comes to my food. Again, it really does just boil down to being aware of what you’re eating and making some small changes and some smart choices.

This weekend I’ll be facing a few more food-type challenges – a fancy meal and some socialising, but I’m hoping that my willpower remains strong and that I can stick to the ProPoints plan like last weekend. I’m optimistic anyway!

While there hasn’t been a big loss this week, I’m hoping that I’ll be after losing a little bit more by the time my next weigh-in rolls around.
