It’s no surprise that I’m on a fitness mission.
Anyone who reads our site probably knows about my weekly struggles documented in ‘It Started With A Dress’. If I look sideways at a slice of cake, I may as well watch the cellulite jiggle on my hips for the next week.
The gym can be tired, boring and a lot of times it leaves you feeling deflated before you’ve racked up 10 minutes on the clock.
I get tired of running, stressed by the step machine and sometimes even the most motivated slimmers need something new to put a pep in their step.
It’s with this in mind that I was set a challenge. Thirty days to improve my tone, muscle and stamina, all with the help of some trampolines and the kind people of Jump Zone.
I was signed up to the Rebound Revolution trampoline classes – a cardio workout that puts your heart, muscles and all other joints in competition to work it out in a low impact but high fat burning exercise routine.
It all sounded very promising, and with rumours of burning up to a 1,000 calories per session, I’m already mentally buying my new wardrobe one size down.
I’d love to say it was a breeze, that I walked out slick and sweat-free, but I was glistening bright like a tomato and I’m pretty sure you could have shined some shoes in the trail of sweat that followed me from behind.
It was like a regular cardio class but using trampolines, holding my core for balance and 50 minutes of some serious dance tunes to keep up spirits.
If they weren’t such pumping tunes, I think people might be likely to flop on their side. Instead, you wait until the side plank where the two minutes of rest are taken to sprawl and breathe for 30 seconds.
It’s a strange feeling to both love and hate the person who’s helping you with a mission.
But don’t just take my word for it. We’ve got talking to the woman who actually designed the course.
Eileen is a personal fitness instructor, Rebound Revolution trainer (i.e. uses those smaller trampolines to make you sweat it out) and now she’s the mastermind behind setting up four tracks in one class so any level of fitness fanatic can come in, bust a jumping move, and drop those pounds.
If you want to know how I hobbled through week one, you can check it out here, but we’ll also be bringing you the health and fitness benefits on Monday for why you should ditch your usual training for a bouncing success story.
The woman also knows how to push you to your limits, and if there’s a niggling doubt about signing up, she’s the woman to put those doubts (and excuses) to bed.
But for now, we’ll settle for surviving round two next week (which you can read – and mock for yourself – next Friday.)
Why not make a change from your usual gym trip and take a fun approach to your fitness this January and check outRebound Revolution trampoline classes at Jump Zone. Suitable for all levels of fitness, the classes will keep you on your toes!
