Price increase set to happen for popular UK brand due to Brexit

A few weeks back we heard that a number of brands disappeared from Tesco due to Brexit.

Unilever, the company behind some of the biggest brands in Tesco failed to come to an agreement with the supermarket over increases in prices, they said was due to Brexit. As a result Tesco refused to stock some of their brands including Surf, Ben & Jerrys and Knorr. And now another huge UK brand has revealed that their prices are set to increase. The crisp company Walkers are set to make their products 10% more expensive. The company behind the huge brand, PepsiCo, has been met with a lot of criticism with people saying they are being opportunistic as a lot of the potatoes used for the crisps come from Britain. James Russell of Blakemore said, “Brexit has caused uncertainty and I think this is massively opportunistic by PepsiCo.” According to The Sun, Walkers said, “We import a number of different ingredients and materials to produce a finished packet of Walkers crisps. “We are taking steps to cover some of these additional costs through selective cost price changes.” While the immediate price change will come into place in the UK, it's likely to have a knock on affect on prices here in Ireland.
