It's time to run down to Lidl because it looks like this new wacky flavour could run off the shelves.
Lidl have created a new kickstart programme which invests in small Irish food businesses, allowing them to grow their business and trade through Lidl.
One of those selected was Barry John's Butchers in Cavan. Home of the chocolate chip and honeycomb sausage.
Although the sceptic in us thinks this could be a recipe for disaster, it looks like we are totally wrong.
Her caught up with Barry John, the creator of the chocolate sossie, who told us that "everyone loves chocolate so we said, lets combine sweet and savoury to make some different sausages and people are truly loving them."
Having created over 30 extraordinary flavours from pepperoni and cheese to cheddar and chilli, the butcher told us that BLACKCURRANT AND GUINNESS sausages are currently in the making. How insane?
I think we need to do a taste test, I am too curious.
The sausages are now available in all Lidl stores across Ireland while stocks last. Race you there.Doctor issues warning over foods that are ‘worse for you than smoking’
