This time it’s flyboarding that’s hitting the coasts of the world, allowing users to dip and dive like dolphins in the sea.
Flyboarding involves a water-propelled jetpack called a flyboard. The device attaches to any jet-ski and the pressure of the water can make you fly up to ten metres above water.
Instructions: use your feet and weight to control their direction.
Sounds simple, but maybe it’s easier said than done!
Our Her.ie girl Naoimh Wilkins tried something similar in Florida called ‘Rocket-Man’. Hats off to Naoimh for being the first of her friends to step up to the challenge. Not such a satisfying post-experience feeling though, as she describes the experience now as “traumatic”! We’re still waiting for the photos to be produced in the office!
The waters off Australia’s Gold Coast has been host to the new craze for the last few weeks but the sport has hit the aqua sports scene in Florida too.
The Flyboard was invented by jet skier Franky Zapata in 2011.
And it won’t come cheap… it will cost you nearly €9,000, you’ll need a jet-ski with that too!
Would you dare to try it…? We’re wondering how long it will take the sport to hit the coasts of Ireland…
