These are the healthiest options you can order at Five Guys

Megan Roantree

Let’s face it, if you’re going to Five Guys for a meal, there’s no point trying to be overly healthy once you get there!

Many people who are on strict diets or are watching their weight will still obviously go for the odd treat, so it’s good to know what the healthiest option possible is.

Nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert specialises in Weight Management, Eating Disorders and Sports Nutrition. She shared the most healthy options in fast food restaurants with the Daily Mail.

With Five Guys recently opening up in Dundrum, you’re probably curious to try it out if you haven’t already.

Rhiannon advises, that if you’re watching your figure, simply go bunless.

The menu in Five Guys isn’t very extensive, so she advises to go with some of your favourites, minus the bread.

The lowest calorie option on the menu is the Hot Dogs without the bread.

”At just 210 kcals, this is lower in saturated fat than the burgers and lower in calories but it is slightly lower in protein.

‘You can add this to a side salad and extra veggies to add some more fibre and nutrition.” Rhiannon said.

The second lowest calorie meal on the menu is the Plain Bunless Hamburger  at 490 calories.

‘‘This is pretty clean as far as fast food goes, just meat and lettuce so there’s a zero blood sugar spike. Plus it’s lowest in salt – but red meat is high in saturated fat.” She says.

The full list is below:

Bunless Hot Dog – 210 kcals

Plain Bunless Hamburger – 490 kcals

Bunless Bacon Burger – 628

BLT Sandwich – 642

Plain Hamburger – 750

The nutritionist recommends adding a side salad and extra vegetables to add some more fibre and nutrition.
