IKEA reportedly testing a food delivery service in one European store and ahhhhh

Jade Hayden

24 meatballs and two potions of mash, please.

IKEA’s great.

It’s got lots of cheap things. It’s got lots of expensive things.

It’s got lots of things that are a nice medium between cheap and expensive that you’ll spend at least five days trying to build on your own, stubbornly refusing to accept help from your male roommate despite the fact that he knows how to drill a nail and you, in fact, do not.

It’s a very good store that’s made only better by its restaurant selection.

They’ve got meatballs, they’ve got mash, they’ve got hot dogs, chicken kiev, and as many dessert options as you can shake a flat pack stick at.

It’s a decent enough scenario – one that could potentially only be made better by a potential delivery service that could potentially be trialled in an IKEA near you (France).

That’s according to Spanish news outlet El Confidencial anyway, who reported recently that the Swedish furniture giant was testing out a food delivery service in one of their smaller urban concept stores in Paris.

The smaller stores allow customers to wander in, buy a few items, and then head home again – or plan what their spaces might look like without actually having to purchase anything too bulky at that exact moment in time.

It also gives people the chance to eat some delicious meatballs in the centre of the city.

The dream.

Obviously, there has been zero chat about whether a food delivery service such as this is going to be a thing in Ireland, but for now, we’re going to go ahead and presume that it won’t be.

We don’t even have a concept store yet, lads.

C’mon.
