Parents are often tempted to name their children accordingly if they should happen to greet the world on an important day.
We all know the Patricks and Patricias born on our national holiday or the Noels and Noelles whose birthdays fall around the holiday season.
However, one new mum was inspired by last week’s presidential election and has named her newborn twins Mitt Romney and Barack Obama.
Millicent Owour told her local Kenyan newspaper that she decided to call her children after the candidates because she never wants to forget the 2012 election.
Millicent gave birth to Barack and Mitt last week
According to Metro, the hospital where the woman gave birth is very close to where Barack Obama’s father is buried and where some of his distant relatives live.
The locals were glued to the TV screens as they watched Mr Obama give his victory speech last week and following his re-election, parades were held in the streets of Kogelo.
While we’re sure Millicent’s intentions were good, we’re not sure it will be easy growing up with those names.
We wonder if any of Obama’s relatives in County Offaly have been tempted to name their kids after their favourite cousin?
We’re thinking the answer is no…
