Baby boy, Santiago, is making headlines in Colombia this week after weighing in at over 40 pounds.
At just eight-months-old he ways three times heavier than an average child of his age.
According to WFLA.com the tot hits the scales at 46.3 pounds and has been placed on a strict diet by medical professionals in order to get his weight down to around 17 pounds.
Obesity specialist, Cesar Guevara, explained: “Three normal sized Santiago’s would fit in him, because he weighs 46.3 pounds for an 8-month-old baby and he should be weighing roughly 17 or 15 pounds.”
The little boy’s mother, Eunice Fandiño, approached a Colombian charity that helps tackle obesity after noticing Santiago’s weight was restricting his ability to move.
The child will be fed only vegetables and juices as part of the diet.
