A Chilean teen has been arrested following the sale of her baby through social networking site Facebook.

Police chief Miguel Ampuero sad the teen’s boyfriend told her mother Angela, 42, and sister Daniela, 24, who gave her three options;”Sell it, abort it or give it up for adoption”.
The unborn child was advertised on Facebook and a deal was agreed with a family from Santiago, who paid Veronica 60,000 Chilean pesos, just under €82, when the child was born in November.
Chaparro, her mother and sister were arrested and charged following the sale, and all three appeared before a court in Santiago on Sunday. The judge presiding over the case, Ernesto Silva, said the matter was “very serious”, but added that it could prove to be a complex case, as under under Chilean law, it is “not a crime to offer over the delivery of a newborn over the internet, even though financial compensation is offered.”
