Most of us would have other things on our mind while giving birth but British woman Lyndsey Thomas took time out to share each detail of her 12-hour labour on Twitter.
The 34-year-old began live-tweeting her labour once her contractions started with the hashtag #lyndsaygivesbirth and continued until her daughter Fearne was born. Thomas says she decided to document the life-changing moment as a “social experiment”.
“I wanted to capture as much as I could, even during my contractions. It was a way of keeping my mind off the pain and telling friends what was happening,” she said. “It was also a kind of social experiment to see what the reaction would be like. Everyone was very positive. People were even guessing the weight and the time I would give birth. The staff were all talking about it too.”
From first twinges…
Am I having contractions? timed 2, 15 secs each 13 minutes apart. Will see if another comes along before calling midwife #lyndseygivesbirth
