A mother-of-two from Oklahoma found out that it’s not okay to sell your kids on Facebook the hard way at the weekend.
Twenty-two-year-old Misty VanHorn was arrested on Saturday for alleged trafficking of minors on Facebook. She was selling her 10-month-old and two-year-old for a special “package deal” of $4,000.
According to the police report, VanHorn offered the kids several times on the social network, offering the 10-month old girl for $1,000, or a package deal with the two of them for $4,000.
What’s more, VanHorn had a taker, Mashable.com reports.
VanHorn was reportedly dealing with a woman from Arkansas, according to The Oklahoman newspaper.
“Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all of her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1,000,” read VanHorn’s Facebook message to the Arkansas woman.
The woman was offering her two kids as a “package deal”.
Police believe VanHorn wanted the $1,000 to bail her boyfriend out of jail. Now she’s being held on a $40,000 bond.
The children are in the custody of the state’s department of human services, which alerted the police in the first place.
If you’re going to rush to Facebook to find the accused lady, be careful. There are multiple Misty VanHorns, two of them live in Oklahoma but neither in the woman’s supposed hometown of Sallisaw.
