Baby Body Fit, the specialist pregnancy and post-natal fitness regime devised in Ireland, have now launched a handy exercise DVD.
Like the Baby Body Fit exercise classes, the DVD is two workouts in one DVD and covers both a pregnancy specific workout and a postnatal section, with a calorie burning workout focused on weight loss, strength, muscle tone, core building, and fat burning.
Busy mums can now stay fit during pregnancy, and tone-up afterwards, from the comfort of their own home, safe in the knowledge that their exercise programme is specifically designed for their needs and ability.
The first of its kind made in Ireland, the Baby Body Fit DVD was created by young mum and fitness instructor, Stephanie Sinnott from Dublin. Having given birth in 2008, Stephanie struggled with her health and fitness, and so researched and developed Baby Body Fit to help pregnant women and new mums to get in shape, and stay in shape, both during and after pregnancy.
The new DVD delivers a safe and effective 40 minute prenatal workout, as well as a 40 minute postnatal exercise session for when the new mum feels ready to get back to exercise. There are different levels of intensity to choose from, in both exercise sessions, so women can do the workout at their own pace.
The prenatal section is a pregnancy specific workout, with exercise designed specifically to the needs of pregnant women, which, fitness expert Stephanie Sinnott says, is a very different proposition to just doing a less intensive version of a regular workout.
‘Pregnant women are often unsure as to what exercise is safe for them. These workouts are designed to strengthen and tone the muscles that support pregnant women, in a very safe fashion. There is also a low intensity cardio routine because, during pregnancy, women need to maintain their energy levels, flexibility, and aerobic fitness more than ever, the Baby Body Fit creator says.
‘When the baby is born, women can exercise at their own pace in the comfort of their own homes when their baby is napping or in the bouncer beside them’, added Stephanie.
Baby Body Fit was launched two years ago, with the aim of helping women stay fit and healthy during the maternity cycle.
A dozen different classes now operate at venues across Dublin, Wicklow and Cork, with groups starting soon in Limerick, Tipperary Kildare, Louth and Meath.
The unique three-stage fitness programme promises a safe and effective cardio workout for pregnancy, combining strength, light cardio and pregnancy specific core work, which follows-up with simple effective sessions on losing weight and building energy after having the baby.
New mothers must have their GP’s clearance to return to exercise; generally six weeks after a normal delivery, or 10 weeks after Caesarean section.
