"My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. 'I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. "I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."And now, over a year and a half since he left the band he's after dropping a huge truth bomb. He never actually wrote that statement. Speaking to ES Magazine about the statement he said:
"[He smirks and leans forward] 'I'm going to ask you a question now — do you think I wrote that? Like, look how it's worded. I'm not a 35-year-old lawyer. I don't write like that,' [he sits back, satisfied.]"
Look - we're under no illusion he came up with all of it by himself and you can be sure he had a pretty hefty legal team breathing down his neck but could he not just play along for the sake of the fans.
