OH, WHAT’S OCCURRIN’?
Not a whole tbh, other than one of the world’s greatest sitcoms returning for a Christmas special on this here day.
The Gavin & Stacey Christmas special airs tonight, and although we’ve received a few tidbits of information regarding the contents of the show, much of it remains a mystery.
However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t guess, suppose, and predict what we think is going to happen – as well as state the things that definitely, 100 percent will.
This is them. Enjoy.
1. Bryn will mess up dinner
Alright, alright, this we already know from the preview that the BBC so expertly teased to us last month, but hey listen, it’s still a good a prediction as any.
The teaser shows Bryn burning some food, dropping some veg, and basically making a show of himself as he tries his almighty best to make Christmas dinner somewhat magical.
He’ll surely pull it out of the bag in the end. Or else they’ll order takeaway. Who knows.
You can check out that teaser here, FYI.
2. Gavin & Stacey will threaten to break up before immediately reconciling
That’s it, that’s the whole show.
And if there’s one time of year that couples like to fight about minor things that don’t have any major consequence in the real world, it’s Christmas.
Potential points of argument include: the number of available desserts, the creaminess of the mash, and Gavin prioritising anything over Stacey.
3. Someone will announce a pregnancy
And it will probably be Stacey.
Or Nessa, again – but honestly, we wouldn’t wish such a travesty on her.
Not for the second time. Not like this.
4. Pam will go vegetarian – again
Or, seeing as we’re a whole nine years into the future, vegan.
Back when Gavin & Stacey first aired, Gavin’s mum decided that she wanted to impress Stacey’s family by pretending to be vegetarian.
She was rather very sad about the whole thing and eventually caved, but listen, if there was ever a time to try out another restrictive diet, this was it.
5. Nessa and Smithy will ride
As per usual, innit.
The first ever episode of Gavin & Stacey portrayed Smithy and Nessa going for it in the bathroom of a budget hotel.
It only makes sense then that things will come full circle this Christmas and the two will be reunited – sexually.
6. Gwen will make a Christmas omelette
Featuring turkey and stuffing, naturally.
7. The outcome of the fishing trip will finally be revealed
Yes, this is more a desperate hope than a prediction, and no, it probably won’t actually happen – but listen, we can hope.
For those of you who aren’t familiar, the fishing trip is a recurring joke (and horror) involving cousin Jason, Bryn, and a fishing trip that for some reason, went awry.
Why? Who knows. What occurred? Not a clue.
But maybe tonight’s the night. Who can say for sure?
The Gavin & Stacey Christmas special airs tonight on BBC One.
