Here’s what we know so far about season 2 of the Bridgerton spinoff.
Ever since Queen Charlotte landed on Netflix, there have been questions about whether it would be – as it was billed – a limited series or whether Netflix could get the cast on board to continue it further. Bridgerton fans, it seems, will watch absolutely anything connected to their favourite romance franchise, so why not keep it going?
Here’s what we know so far about a potential second instalment.
It’s listed as limited, but then so was White Lotus
Recently, limited series’ have turned into longer-running shows. White Lotus is the obvious one, and swept the board at the Emmy Awards. So maybe if Queen Charlotte gets similarly amazing ratings and there are award whispers, a second season might come to pass?
Showrunner Shonda Rhimes has said she’s not talking about it “yet”
Which might indicate that the time will come when she IS going to talk about it? She dropped hints that she would be up for a return to Queen C if the opportunity came up. She told Entertainment Weekly: “There have been questions, but I’m not having conversations about it yet. I could live with Charlotte and George forever, but we told a very specific, closed-ended story that I think is a complete tale of this complicated, imperfect love. But I’m not ruling anything out because I never know.”
Not ruling anything out, eh Shonda? We like the sound of that.
Importantly, India Ria Amarteifio who plays Queen Charlotte loved her role…
She said: “I have loved this character. She’s fantastic. I feel very lucky to be able to portray someone who’s so complex. I would absolutely love to do something in the realm again.”
We’d love to explore the realms of possibility with you too, India Ria. Have your people call Shonda’s people.
