Get ready to fall in love with Connell and Marianne all over again.
Anyone who watched Normal People earlier this year will tell you that Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones were born to play its leads.
The TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s bestselling novel was an instant hit around the world; thanks in no small part to the actors’ natural chemistry on screen.
Looking back at an early audition, it’s fair to say they clicked right from the start.
A casting video of Paul and Daisy acting out a scene from the show has been released online.
In it, as Connell and Marianne, they tetchily discuss their feelings towards each other.

Going by the clip, it’s pretty clear that they each understood their characters’ vulnerability and the intensity of their relationship long before production started.
Seeing them as Connell and Marianne outside the context of the show almost feels awkward, like overhearing a real couple having an intimate chat.
The video has gone down a treat online, with fans heaping praise on Paul and Daisy.
They both are such a talented people and have such a strong chemistry. The absence of decorations in these scene makes it so much more real and present.

This is an absolute treat. You can’t force chemistry between two actors. They either have it or they dont & these two have it in abundance. I really hope they work together again in the future

As big as it was, it looks like Normal People was just the start for both Daisy and Paul.
It was announced this week that Daisy has landed the lead role in the film adaptation of Where The Crawdads Sing.
Paul, meanwhile, is set to star alongside Dakota Johnson and Olivia Colman in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut The Lost Daughter.
