The film is based on the children’s Christmas book trilogy That Christmas and Other Stories by Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones Diary and Love Actually).
Interweaving stories play out in the movie, exploring topics like ‘love and loneliness, family and friends, and Santa Claus making a big mistake’.
The movie sees residents of the fictional town, Wellington-On-Sea, prepare for Christmas Day, however, a blizzard threatens to halt celebrations when parents become separated from their children.
Starring in the new Netflix story is Brian Cox as Santa Claus, as well as star studded appearances from Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker and Bill Nighy.
Many were surprised at how the film pulled at their heartstrings, thinking they were about to watch a light-hearted festive family movie.
One viewer posted to Rotten Tomatoes saying the movie is 'destined to become a Christmas tradition'.
"Beautiful stories, intertwined with deft skill to create an epic Christmas tale that had the kids enthralled from start to finish, my wife in tears (at times), and me actually sitting through an entire animated feature. A very rare beast – something for the entire family," they added.
You can find That Christmas on Netflix now.
