Stick with us because Murdoch has made this as complicated as he possibly can. The Twentieth Century Fox logo is unbelievably iconic, there are very few who would not be able to hum the intro to most Fox films.
Now, Murdoch has set up a new section of News Corp entitled 21st Century Fox. The new section will not affect the films that will continue to go out under the original Fox banner, but is a new entertainment wing to the group.
It seems Murdoch wants to spin the entertainment section as far as is humanly possible away from the print section, particularly considering the bad press that was following it.
Murdoch commented: “…in recognition of their rich histories and strong connections with audiences across the globe. 21st Century Fox is a name that draws upon the rich creative heritage of Twentieth Century Fox, while also speaking to the innovation and dynamism that must define each of our businesses through the 21st Century. Our new name is inspired by the very first company we acquired nearly thirty years ago as our initial foray into the awe-inspiring world of entertainment.”
It doesn’t really have the same wow factor.
