Viewers of The Daily Show were left shocked on Tuesday night as Jon Stewart announced that he was leaving the hit show after 17 years.
Rumours had been circulating ahead of the show, and Stewart later broke the news to the studio audience and viewers.
He revealed that although he is not leaving just yet, he was looking forward to spending tie with his family and life away from the show.
“I am a terrible employee,” he said. “But, in my heart I know it is time for someone else to have that opportunity.”
The show has been a firm favourite with viewers due to its political comedy and satire.
