Bosses at EastEnders have revealed that they will pay tribute to John Bardon in an on-screen storyline in the coming weeks.
The actor, who played Jim Branning, Dot’s husband, passed away in September of last year at the age of 75.
The show will pay tribute to him in an episode that will be aired next month.
The couple were firm favourites on the Square.
His on-screen funeral will see his wife Dot arrive in handcuffs as she awaits her fate over the death of her son Nick Cotton.
“We are planning to celebrate John,” producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins told Digital Spy recently.
“You’ve got to be really careful with these things, but it’s only right to do it.”
Dot is in big trouble after the death of Nick.
“I went to John’s funeral and I spoke to his wife Enda then about doing something on the show. We’ve chatted to Enda because I wanted to get her blessing in order to do it properly.
“We want to pay tribute to John because he was amazing.”
Fans of the show have started a Free Dot campaign but the producer remained tight-lipped on what the future holds for one of Albert Square’s favourites.
