Tyson Fury drops big hint he could star in I’m a Celebrity

Ben Kenyon

Tyson Fury is current in the throws of dealing with severe mental health problems which have seen him allegedly test positive for cocaine and end hopes of a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury poured his heart out about drug use, depression and suicidal thoughts in a bleak and frank interview with Rolling Stone magazine following his reported failed drugs test.

Fury says he is diagnosed bipolar and manic depressive and hasn’t been near a boxing gym for months. It’s clear the troubled boxer needs help and time aware from the sport and the glare of the media.

But despite this he’s being linked with an appearance on ITV reality show ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here‘.

Bosses of the show are reportedly desperate to sign the 6ft 9in boxer for a stint in the jungle, according to the Daily Star.

Producers are willing to offer him big money to appear in the jungle Down Under just weeks after he pulled out from his fight with the 40-year-old Ukrainian after doctors deemed him medically unfit.

The Star claims a source close to Fury believes it could help his career, saying “A good run on the show would improve his image.”

It might sound like pure speculation, but then Fury’s official Twitter account retweeted a story about the appearance on the long-running show.

However, a spokesperson for ITV said: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here at this stage are just pure speculation.”

Olympic gymnast Louis Smith and former footballer Robbie Savage are both rumoured to be heading into the jungle later this year.

Other rumoured to be on the show, which starts next month, are Strictly’s Aliona Vilani and Ola Jordan, Nigel Farage, Scarlett Moffatt and Carol Voderman.

He wouldn’t be the first boxer to appear on the show, with Joe Bugner, Nigel Benn and David Haye all featuring in previous series.
