Twilight writer is still cringing about one line in the movie

And we can see why!

Love or hate Twilight, it had a massive fan base and was hugely popular among teenagers.

While it has been praised in the past for some of its stunning cinematography there’s no denying that it features some very cheesy lines.

The writer of the screenplay, Melissa Rosenberg, has spoken out about some of the lines in the movie which she didn’t even want in it, especially the “spider monkey” references.

Speaking to Us Weekly she said, “In the first movie, there’s something about, ‘Be my spider monkey’. I’m like, ‘Spider monkey? What the hell is spider monkey?'”

The scene she’s referring to is when Edward is climbing up a tree with Bella holding on to his back and the exact line is, “You better hold on tight, spider monkey!”

She added, “I think there was another thing either in [film] 1 or 2, again, ‘He’s my monkey man.’ Someone has an obsession with monkeys, and I don’t know what it is. But it ain’t me who has an obsession with monkeys! But little things like that irk you.”

Melissa explained that those lines weren’t in her final scripts and someone added them in without her knowing.

She explained that if she were to go back again she would do things differently, “It’s not as satisfying to write something and just send it off into the ether. For myself, if I were to get involved again in features in a serious way, I would want to be involved as a producer as well.”
