Twenty Films We Are Really Looking Forward To In 2014… Part 1

There's quite the list...

There is no doubt about it, 2013 was quite the year for film releases and not just any old film releases, there were quite a few excellent films in there. Because of that, we are really looking forward to 2014. Here are some of the films to watch out for in 2014.

1. Noah

Darren Aronofsky and Russell Crowe get together for a big bible epic. Although slated in initial reviews, this is one that we are still looking forward to for next year, even just for the return of Russell Crowe. The Noah and the Ark story is familiar to everyone, we’re looking forward to a new take on the old tale.

2. Muppets Most Wanted

The Muppets are back! And this time the adventure is bigger than ever. Featuring the likes of Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais among others, this certainly looks to be a showstopper for next year.

3. Godzilla

You have hopefully seen the trailer, there really isn’t anywhere to go after that. Starring Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the monster will be back and bigger than ever.

4. Stretch

This certainly looks like one of the more interesting projects from next year. Starring the wonderful Patrick Wilson and the underrated Chris Pine, the film follows the story of chaffeur Stretch who works for billionaire Pine. However, Pine’s life impacts far more on Stretch than he ever thought possible. The project is also directed by Joe Carnahan who was responsible for The Grey.

5. Transcendence

Besides Interstellar, this is the film that most people are talking about for 2014. Starring the wonderfully amazing Rebecca Hall and hopefully a return to form from Johnny Depp, the story revolves around two leading computer scientists who are working towards a goal of Technological Singularity. It also stars Kate Mara and Morgan. The project is directed by Wally Pfister, the famous cinematographer who works with Christopher Nolan.

6. Interstellar

We cannot stress this enough, Interstellar will be THE film to watch in 2014. The first project from Christopher Nolan since his departure from the Batman series has fans literally foaming at the mouth with excitement. As per usual with Nolan, little is known about the project except that Interstellar will explore the idea of wormholes and human space travel. Oh, and then there’s the fact that Matthew McConaughey will star. No biggie.

7. Tomorrowland

Another film that has been shrouded in secrecy and almost a complete mystery is Tomorrowland, which is Disney’s latest project. There has been rumours that the project will be pushed back to 2015, but we really hope not. Revolving around an unlikely pair’s mission to unearth the secrets of their collective memory, the film stars Clooney and is directed by the Incredibles Brad Bird.

8. Mad Max: Fury Road

We have two words: Tom Hardy. Another film that has been rumoured to have been pushed into 2015 is the latest Mad Max venture starring the wonderful Tom Hardy. Little is known about the plot as of yet, but we can imagine this will be spectacular.

9. X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-Men Unite! In the latest Singer X-Men, Professor X and and Magneto approach Wolverine and ask him to go back in time and correct an event which may lead to the end of mutants and mankind alike. All of our favourites are back here, but most importantly, THE Jennifer Lawrence.

10. Gone Girl

Based on the hugely popular book, David Fincher will tackle the story of a woman who mysteriously disappears on the day of her wedding anniversary and the husband who tries to find her. Starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, there are just two important words here, David Fincher.
