The new series comes a full 13 years after the death of Rachel (played by Helen Baxendale), and fans will pick up with the storyline to see how Adam coped, if Peter and Jenny stayed together and all the drama of break-ups with David and Karen.
“This feels like the right time to revisit these characters, as they tip-toe through the minefield of middle age,” said creator Mike Bullen.
“They’re 50 but still feel 30, apart from on the morning after the night before, when they really feel their age.
“They’ve still got lots of life to look forward to, though they’re not necessarily the years one looks forward to.”
Production on the new eight-part series begins in January.Entertainment
