You might be surprised.

Jermain Jackman has been revealed as the winner of this year’s The Voice UK.

The 19-year-old from Kent saw off strong competition in the form of Sally Barker, Jamie Johnson and favourite Christina Marie (which is why you might have been surprised) to claim this year’s title and clinch a £100,000 record deal.

After his name was announced, Jermain thanked his mentor Will.i.am before adding: “This is not just an achievement for me, this is an achievement for every single person around the world, especially in the UK, who has had a dream, worked hard for that dream and achieved that dream.”

Earlier in the evening, the four finalists were whittled down to three with Jamie being the first to leave. The remaining contestants then sang their favourite songs from the series before the winner was announced.

In case you missed it, you can watch Jermain’s winning performance of Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball by clicking the video below.
