Only a week after the disappointing Pretty Little Liars summer finale, fans of the ABC show have been let down again.
The big ‘A’ reveal went down like a lead balloon – but, only a week later the station has begun teasing the winter half of the season, and one of the posts has people up in arms.
The Pretty Little Liars twitter account tweeted (and then deleted) a meme of character Alison DiLaurentis accompanied with the caption: “He. She. It. Charlotte. #PrettyLittleLiars.”
Fans were upset with the pronouns used to describe the transgender character Charlotte, deeming the tweet transphobic.
@ABCFpll ‘It’ is probably the most offensive term to call a transgender person. This post is rude af.

@garnetlily1@ABCFpll exactly. We know A’s gender now, referring to her as “he” or “it” is extremely offensive, they need to delete it — ️ (@eddiexcx) August 24, 2015
Although the tweet was deleted almost as quickly as it was posted, ABC have yet to respond to the backlash.
***Update***
Show runner Marlene King has released a statement on Instagram saying, “The Pretty Little Liars official Instagram account is not run by the shows creators, cast or crew. We too were upset by the post yesterday and we’re happy to see that it was removed. I encourage all people to be their true selves. And offer my support to the LBGT community.”
