You almost forget some of these things happened. Almost.
A lot of things happened this year, and we sure talked about them.
Twitter is a go-to place for spreading your views and frustrations, and it certainly showed with the top 5 hashtags of the year.
When it came to the top spot, it could only really be one thing - repealing the 8th amendment. It took over our lives for a chunk of the year, with the top hashtag being #repealthe8th - and we're glad it did because we successfully revoked the law and made abortion legal in Ireland.
Of course, the next issue people tweeted about, and something that is still going on (will it ever end?!) is the negotiations on Brexit with #brexit.
Next up, is the Irish presidential election with #aras18 hitting the third spot. Michael D Higgins came out victorious (thankfully) after three Dragon's Den stars decided to run campaigns.
In fourth place, and now it seems so long ago, is Storm Emma with #beastfromtheeast. Ah yes, the time Ireland came to an absolute standstill because of the weather.
Now, we completely forgot about this one if we're truthful - but my God, did it impact our lives at the time. And by impact we mean we got email upon email day after day about it.
Yes, it's #gdpr, and we're so glad that part of our lives is over.
Well, that's it, your top 5:
