There’s a brand new twist planned for the X Factor live shows

This is a cool idea.

Okay, we love this.

Although in previous years, viewers had to wait to find to find out what theme the X Factor contestants would follow each week, that’s about to change.

This year, the finalists will find out the themes for the live shows via a “mechanical jukebox”.

Show host Dermot O’Leary will be joined by a guest each week and although it hasn’t been confirmed, the live act singing on the results show *could* potentially be the one to join Dermot on stage.

Although that would be VERY cool, there’s no word yet on who the special guest will be and it’s not yet known if a different person will appear each week.

According to The Mirror, the themes included this year are Boy Band versus Girl Band, Oscars, Disco, 80s, Divas, Motown, and Louis Loves (the Louis Walsh collection).

For the first week of the live shows, taking place this weekend, the 12 contestants will perform songs under the theme ‘Express Yourself’.

This basically means that they’ll sing something that showcases their full potential and where they want to position themselves in the music industry.

In case you missed last week’s X Factor, here are the final 12 set to perform this weekend.
