There could be amazing news for Twilight fans on the way

Fingers crossed.

Here’s hoping anyway.

There could be another Twilight on the way, that’s according to Patrick Wachsberger, the co-chairman of Lionsgate and former head of Summit.

He was speaking at the Screen Daily at the Zurich Film Festival and mentioned that they would be interested in doing more movies from the Twilight franchise. There have been five movies already, based on Stephenie Meyer’s four books. The franchise came to a natural end in 2012 because the story from books did.

In terms of where the story goes next, it’s all up to Stephenie says Patrick. Speaking about a new movie he said, “It’s a possibility. Not a certainty but it’s a possibility. It’s about Stephenie. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters we’re here for her.”

He added, “Twilight was a game changer for everyone involved.”

Just because he’s interested, and even if Stephenie gets on board to write some new material, there’s no saying that Robert or Kristen would even be interested in reprising their roles.

During the interview ge also spoke about the circumstances around Robert Pattinson’s role:

“Robert Pattinson only came in three weeks before shoot. An assistant, who has subsequently become a very successful executive, said, ‘There’s this guy called Rob Pattinson from the fourth Harry Potter…’ I said, ‘Well, let’s fly him in from London’.

“He did his screentest and he got the job. I’m not going to tell you how little the salary was on the first one but of course lawyers were there to renegotiate deals following its success.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if Stephenie wants to revisit Twilight.
