We're quite surprised by this.
The folks over at
Forbes have done their calculations and worked out who the top grossing actor of 2016 is. Their results are based on ticket sales for all the movies released in 2016.
Scarlett Johansson has come in at the top spot with thanks to a string of hugely successful movies this year including
Captain America: Civil War and
Hail, Caesar! Her movies brought in $1.2bn (£977m) globally over the past 12 months.
It makes sense based on the movie sales but she wouldn't have been the first person to spring to mind when thinking about the top grossing actor of the year.
Her
Captain America co-stars, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr, were close behind her with $1.15bn, putting them tied for second place.
Rounding off the top five were Margot Robbie and Amy Adams for their roles in huge movies such as
Suicide Squad and
Batman v Superman.
