The split is “effective immediately.”
After three albums together, The Strypes have announced they made the decision to “call time” on being a band.
The Cavan band – Ross Farrelly, Josh McClorey, Pete O’Hanlon, Evan Walsh – announced the news on Twitter this morning, thanking their fans for all the support for the last few years.
They posted a hand-written note, which said:
“Over the past 7 years we have played in toilets and theatres, in cafés and castles, from Scotshouse to Tokyo and back again.
“We’ve been in bedrooms and buses, planes, trains and automobiles.
“We’ve been on telly, on radio and on record.
“It’s been fun and exciting, dull and dangerous, easy, tough, frustrating, satisfying and amazing. It’s been a life and a living.
“But we’ve decided to call time on The Strypes.
“Thank you all.”

They also said that the break up of the band is “effective immediately.”
Fans took to twitter soon after the announcement, with many of them stunned by the band’s break-up.
