Fans of the cult horror movie The Shining may well be interested – or more likely terrified – to learn that a crucial part of the movie has now become a reality.
The movie, which is based on the Stephen King thriller of the same name and brought to the screen by Stanley Kubrick, focuses on the Overlook Hotel which is actually the Stanley Hotel in Colorado.
Much to the delight of fans, the hotel has finally added a hedge maze to its grounds.
Although the maze does not feature in the book, it was a key part of the movie and the owners of the hotel finally opened the new attraction earlier this month.
The Shining was King’s first hardback bestseller and is said to have been inspired by a trip the writer took with his wife to the Stanley Hotel in the 1970s.
They stayed in Room 217, which became a key room in the book.
While fans have expressed disappointment at the size of the new maze, the hotel has reassured them that it ‘will grow in time’.
