The role of ‘Penny’ in The Big Bang Theory almost went to a different actress

Imagine how different it would've been...

Rebecca Keane

We can’t imagine anyone else playing the role of Penny than Kaley Cuoco.

The Big Bang Theory has made viewers around the globe laugh, cry and say “Bazinga!” for 10 seasons now.

It’s hard to believe the show started all the way back in 2007, nearly 10 years ago however the original lineup of Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar and of course Kaley Cuoco was almost different before the show aired.

According to Unilad, before Kaley Cuoco succeeded in getting the female lead of Penny, the original female character was actually called Katie and was set to be played by Amanda Walsh.

Here’s a clip of the unaired pilot which starred Katie in the show.

Reportedly, it took Kaley Cuoco three tries to be cast in the role of Penny.

And considering how things have turned out in the show, we’re so glad she got the part.
