The 97th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on RTÉ One this year

The prestigious event will air at midnight on Monday, March 3rd from the iconic Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood.

Hosting the ceremony for the first time, Conan O’Brien will take centre stage, following in the footsteps of past hosts such as Jimmy Kimmel, Chris Rock, Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes.

Among this year’s standout nominees is the musical, Emilia Pérez, alongside The Brutalist and Wicked, each vying for top honours in various categories.

Fans of Wicked are in for a treat, as stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande have been confirmed to perform at the ceremony.

The Academy teased their highly anticipated performance on social media, stating: “A spellbinding moment awaits.

“Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande take the #Oscars stage for a performance you won’t forget.”

Despite concerns that the event might be impacted by the recent devastating wildfires, the ceremony remains scheduled to proceed as planned on Sunday, March 2nd.

For those who miss the live broadcast, RTÉ2 will air The Oscars Highlights later that evening at 9:30 pm, offering a recap of the biggest moments, speeches, and award winners.
