The Sabrina the Teenage Witch cast were all in agreement that the new series is much more dark and frightening than the whimsical shenanigans of the beloved 90s series, with the signature spell noise and glitter. Beth Broderick, who formerly played the studious and righteous aunt Zelda, said:
"It's really scary, I don't think I could watch it alone."
The second topic of discussion among the old cast was how different the new titular character is. Played by Kiernan Shipka, the teenage witch is a force to be reckoned with and is a "very political little Sabrina".
In one scene, Sabrina removes her clothes and Melissa Joan Hart Jokes that she was never allowed to do that, although she did once "run through a scene naked". Beth and Caroline also joke saying, "this is not our Sabrina." Let's just say the new character is a bit more...hex positive!
In a funny moment during the reaction video, Caroline remarked that the new Salem is much better than the "alcoholic rabbit wearing a hairpiece" back in their day. Indeed, everything in CAOS seems new and shiny, as Nate Richards jealously joked that new Harvey is "dreamy" and he envies his luscious head of hair.
Overall, the old cast seemed to give the reboot the thumbs up.
Our advice? Definitely give it a go. While it does take a while to get your head around such different characters, separate it from what you know and think of it as an entirely different thing.
