Can they do ANY wrong?
What would the magical journey that was the Rio Olympics 2016 have been without the smiley happy duo of joy that was the O’Donovan brothers?
They were the first of the Irish cohort to win a medal when they finished second in the men’s double sculls and inspired us all with their happy-go-lucky personalities.
It wasn’t JUST their athletic prowess that quickly made them firm favourites of Olympics viewers, but also their brilliantly grounded, unaffected media appearances afterwards.
They gifted us with some hilarious moments, including amazing one-liners and inspired a diet of shteak and spuds and returned home to a true hero’s welcome on Sunday.

Last night, the boys made an appearance on the 9 o’clock news and delighted the nation once again with their wit.
Speaking live from Skibbereen in Cork, the duo seemed still unfazed by the huge homecoming party they were thrown as hundreds upon thousands of fans came to wish them well.
The brothers even drew comparisons with Dougal from Father Ted when they struggled to estimate how many people were in Skibb for the celebrations. They are GAS.
Viewers watching the news were delighted at hearing their television favourite, Father McGuire being unintentionally quoted on the news.
On a very grim day, the Dougal quote from the O’Donovan brothers about the crowd on their news interview was very welcome. ? #aboutamillion

Why has no one made the comparison between the O’Donovan brothers and Dougal from “Father Ted?” #rowing #rio2016
