Goodbye Rochelle and Melvin.
What would The X Factor be without its shake-ups. And this year’s show has had its fair share of shock exits and additions.
Firstly, it sees the return of presenter Dermot O’Leary, but also former judges Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger.
So the only people left from the last year were Simon Cowell and the two presenters of The Xtra Factor Rochelle Hume and Melvin Odoom. And it looks like Simon was hell bent on being the only one left since he’s just replaced the both of them.
That’s right, we’ve a new Xtra Factor host and it’s going to be Matt Edmondson.
Matt has featured on a number of different shows on UK television and radio since 2004 but most recently can be heard every Saturday on his BBC Radio 1 show.
Not only has he been announced as the new presenter but he also brings some new information on the ITV2 show. He will be coming live every night of the show from the very start.
In previous years the show would only start once the live finals got underway but now Matt will be coming to us live after each show to discuss what has happened and also to go behind the scenes.
We can now announce that @MattEdmondson is the new face of ITV2’s The #XtraFactor ????https://t.co/Bn3HNkBuhChttps://t.co/Y9xHAAgYWK

Speaking about his new role, Matt joked, “I am unbelievably excited about joining The Xtra Factor this year, not least of all because on my first day Louis Walsh walked into my dressing room topless, unannounced. I regard this as the definition of ‘living the dream’.”
Matt has proved himself to be a massive fan of the show in the past and during one particular series, in 2009, he used to do a YouTube video after every live show breaking down all the events.
Interestingly Matt was linked with the role in 2011, before Olly Murs and Caroline Flack were announced as the new presenters of the show.
Since then he’s obviously impressed Simon and the production team because he’s finally got the call up officially.
We think he’ll make a great addition.
