Here it is.
The eleven contestants taking part in the very first Irish Dancing with the Stars have been announced, with some very familiar household names in the mix.
Comedian Des Bishop joins sports broadcaster, Des Cahill, comedian Katherine Lynch, model Thalia Heffernan, Big Brother star Hughie Maughan, Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony, Hometown’s Dayl Cronin, RTÉ reporter Teresa Mannion and Dr.Eva Orsmond, formerly of Operation Transformation.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that former Fair City actress Aoibhin Garrihy and Denise McCormack, who previously played Linda in Love/Hate and can currently be seen on screen in Red Rock as Bridget Kiely, were to join the DWTS line-up.
This brings the total number of contestants to eleven, all of whom will take to the dancefloor when the show kicks off on January 8th.

It seems most of them are looking forward to embracing the challenge with Des Cahill noting:
“I have very little dance experience so my dancing shoes definitely need a polishing, but I am really looking forward to giving it my best shot! Although as the oldest and heaviest in the competition I might be at a slight disadvantage”.
Meanwhile, Katherine is “scared sh*tless”.
“I am the proud owner of two left feet and they have a very dysfunctional relationship. Dancing is one of my greatest fears so it’s great to be able to finally face it!”
Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byrne will co-present the show and it will be interesting to see how the viewing public takes to it…
