Stephen Fry has temporarily quit Twitter, after telling his followers that it was ‘unsafe’ in a cryptic message.
The actor is a prolific user of the social networking site but informed his 7.8m followers that he was taking a break until December, after being advised that it would be safer.
Closing down on Twitter while filming. In a place whence I’ve been advised it is safest not to tweet. See you December. Here goes…

The announcement led to instant speculation from fans, who have guessed that he is filming for the new Star Wars movie or in a football dressing room.
@stephenfry I bet it’s Star Wars, and they’ve cast you as a flamboyant enterpreneur selling Bocce thesaurii.

@stephenfry are you off to Milton Keynes?

@stephenfry You’re either filming in Parliament or a Football Club Dressing room then. Good luck, see you in December.

@stephenfry I’m taking that as code for, “I’m in the new Star Wars movie!!!”
